Performance Ensembles

Designed for advanced band students with emphasis placed on musicianship skills required for performance of sophisticated literature. Performances include concerts, festivals, and competitions. After school rehearsal time is required. Private lessons are strongly encouraged and expected of experienced players.

Designed for intermediate band students who want to expand on skills learned in Concert Band. The Symphonic Band focuses on enrichment and diverse musical styles. This ensemble generally travels with the Wind Ensemble. Performances include concerts, festivals, and competitions. Private lessons are encouraged.

Designed to develop the necessary skills needed to display advanced musicianship capabilities. The Concert Band performs varied repertoire from all musical periods as well as modern/contemporary and music from pop culture. Performances include concerts and festivals. Private lessons are encouraged.

Designed for advanced string students with emphasis placed on musicianship skills required for performance of sophisticated literature. This ensemble also combines with the String Orchestra and Wind Ensemble to form a Symphony Orchestra for selected performances during the school year. Performances primarily include concerts, festivals, and competitions. After school rehearsal time is required. Private lessons are strongly encouraged and expected of experienced players. 

 Designed to develop the necessary skills needed to display advanced musicianship capabilities. The String Orchestra performs varied repertoire from all musical periods as well as modern/contemporary and music from pop culture. This ensemble also combines with the Chamber Orchestra and Wind Ensemble to form a Symphony Orchestra for selected performances throughout the school year. Performances primarily include concerts and festivals. Private lessons are encouraged. 

Designed for musicians interested in learning elements of jazz music. Emphasis is placed on development of swing, blues, funk, rock, and Latin styles of music. This course is currently an after school program offered through SVUSD Community Services. Performances include concerts and festivals. Open to all students, but enrollment in either Wind Ensemble or Concert Band preferred.
